Our Story

For nearly a century, Community Insurance has grown from its roots in small, neighborhood agencies into a trusted, independent insurance partner for clients across Lancaster County. In 2013, three firms were brought together under the ownership of Tom Mathison and Eric Schwenk to form Community Insurance Services, now Community Insurance Solutions, Inc. In March 2025 the agency entered its next chapter when Deborah Groff purchased the firm and reaffirmed its community-first focus.

We were founded on a simple belief: people deserve personal attention, not one-size-fits-all policies or impersonal call centers. As an independent insurance agency in Lancaster, PA, we have the flexibility to compare multiple carriers and build coverage that fits real lives and budgets, and we remain committed to clear conversations, long-term relationships, and doing what’s right for every client.
